MULTIMEDIA DEVELOPMENT AND DESIGN:

Expert Multimedia Developer : I am highly trained in the most sophisticated features of the Macromedia suite of tools: Flash, Director, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks. With this advanced knowledge I am able to create highly interactive, data-driven simulations and presentations. My multimedia portfolio provides samples of some of my recent work.

Web Application Programming : My programming experience traverses both server-side and client-side design and development, to provided rich, dynamic interactions over the Internet. This includes development with the Java Servlet API, ASP Technologies, JDBC, SQL, Applets, and Macromedia Shockwave and Flash.

Fluent in Graphics Design Tools : I work with Swift3D, Adobe Illustrator, Fireworks, Photoshop, and Streamline. I have used these tools at all levels: from careful typographic design, to assembly of scientific reports.

TECHNICAL COMUNICATION AND INSTRUCTION:

Communication : I have worked closely with businesses, educators, and scientists to help them use the computer as an expressive tool for communication. As part of this work I have deployed instructional solutions using multimedia presentations, creative illustrations, and lucid writing.

I have worked as a programmer and educator, and I bring these concerns to my development and design work. I strive to convey complex, dynamic, and quantitative information in a clear and appealing form.

PROJECTS:

Fall 2004

Worked with MEA Digital, a leading San Diego interactive marketing agency on the design and development of an instructional web application for Kyocera Wireless. The web application is currently deployed on the Kyocera iTeach-U site, and is helping to train the Kyocera sales force in the use of the companies products, in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese!!!

Winter - Spring 2004

Designed and developed technical training animations. Using a 3D modeling program, I created realistic illustrations integrated into multimedia Flash animations. These animations provided the client rich presentations with minimal file sizes, surpassing all expectations.

Spring - Fall 2003

Worked on the development of web-based training software for IVID Communications, in San Diego, CA. Worked with Flash, XML, JavaScript, and HTML to create dynamic, interactive lessons for technicians in the automotive industry.

2001 - 2002

Provided Gallery Now, a San Diego gallery for experimental and underground artists, with computer training and production assistance. Designed and produced a variety of print materials for the gallery and its artists.

Spring 2001

Designed and programmed a Macromedia Director based CD-ROM for IVID Communications and Confirmedia. The CD-ROM allowed the user to automatically install the company's software, preview the software manual in Adobe Acrobat, and view a narrated presentation of the companies core technologies.

Spring 2000

Designed and programmed a Shockwave based web application for classes in linguistics at San Francisco State University. The application allows students to specify grammatical rules for a parser and test those rules against a corpus of sentences. The application connects to a server and back-end database to facilitate user authentication, and user information storage.

1998 - 2000

Author/Developer at Glencoe/McGraw-Hill, Carlsbad, CA. Served as lead programmer on several projects. Developed interactive courses and learning products with Macromedia Director, Flash, and Lingo. As part of this job, I managed the building and version control of large libraries of source code, graphics, audio files, and digital video, under the strict requirements of CD-ROM and online publishing.
